Mother’s Day:
a special occasion to celebrate with love and gratitude
One of the most touching days of the year is the second Sunday of May: Mother’s Day. This day is not just about flowers, gifts or greetings, but about a deeper, intimate moment when we stop for a while and express our gratitude to one of the most important people in our lives – our mother.
Motherhood is not an easy role. A mother’s heart beats both for her own life and for her child’s. He is the one who sees the first smile, supports the first step and wipes the first tears. It’s there even when we can’t see it: he worries, encourages, prays and hopes in his mind. A mother’s love is special, unconditional and unrepeatable.
Many people treat their mothers with a bouquet of flowers, bonbons or hand-made little things. But the real gift is not tangible – a hug, a sincere conversation, or even a well-worded „Thank you for being with me” can mean more than any object. This day gives us the opportunity to look back at what we got from them and give back a little for the many good things they did for us during their lives.
Mother’s Day is also a tribute to those who are no longer with us, but their love and teachings will remain with us forever. Lighting a candle and recalling a fond memory can help us feel closer to them and carry on the legacy they left us.
Today, people live in many different ways – there are mothers, foster mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, adoptive mothers who raise and love with the same heart. It is important to recognize every woman who plays a motherly role in anyone’s life on this day. Remember: motherhood is not just a biological bond. Care, attention, love and support make a person a mother. Let’s make this day more beautiful with a message, a hug, a smile. Let’s try to show them that we appreciate them, not just on this one day, but throughout the rest of the year. Because every day is Mother’s Day, when we turn to them with love.
